John 'Jackie' McDonnell was born in Manchester in 1918. Following his death on Saturday 12th August 1944, he was temporarily laid to rest in the village of Roullours, south-east of Vire and south-west of viessoix, Calvados, Normandy. He is now buried in Bayeux War Cemetery.
