The Brittany American Cemetery was dedicated on 20th July 1956. Although called the Brittany American Cemetery, it is geographically located in Normandy near the border with Brittany. This cemetery is the final resting place of 4,410 servicemen. In the grounds of the cemetery there is also a memorial to the missing.
There are 4,408 headstones marking 4,410 graves: 4,327 are Latin crosses and 81 are Stars of David.
The cemetery is also where the Brittany American Memorial is located. This is known as the Tablets of the Missing and lists the names of 498 men who were listed as missing in action.
